Are we contaminating our samples? A preliminary study to investigate procedural contamination during field sampling and processing for microplastic and anthropogenic microparticles (2021)

This study looks at anthropogenic contamination when collecting samples of microfibers in the environment. We compare the number of microfibers in samples using anti-contamination protocols and with the absence of these protocols.

Electric clothes dryers: An underestimated source of microfiber pollution (2020)

This study measures microfiber emissions into the environment from home installed dryers. Understanding the various ways microfiber enter the natural world help us create strategies to mitigate microfiber pollution.

Lake Champlain Shoreline Sediment Debris Study (2014)

Lake Champlain has 7 billion pieces of marine debris along its shorelines weighing 5.1 tons! Our goal with this study was to determine the type, distribution and concentration of marine debris in the littoral sediment of Lake Champlain. Considering Lake Champlain is an avenue to the ocean via Canada, this not only a problem for the lake’s ecosystem.

The Cora Ball

The Cora Ball is a new kind of laundry ball. Inspired by the way coral filters the ocean, the Cora Ball prevents microfiber from breaking off our clothes and collects our microfibers into fuzz we can see, so we can dispose of microfibers in the right way. Together, we keep these microfibers out of our waterways and our ocean. Yes! Just toss the Cora Ball into your washer. It's a simple step that has a big impact wash after wash.

The Cora Clip

Coraclips work on all types of bags - plastic, foil and paper. Whether it's the bulk bag of your favorite chips, a paper bag of nuts from your local co-op or an unavoidable plastic produce bag from a farm stand; use a coraclip to keep your food fresh!
