  • Ashley Sullivan

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Originally from Miami, Florida, Ashley served for 10 years in various capacities at Shake- A-Leg Miami, a nonprofit community watersports and education center before moving to Burlington, Vermont in 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, a minor in Women’s Studies and has a USCG Merchant Mariner 50 ton license. Ashley captains the 60’ sailing research vessel American Promise and loves to sail, ski, ride her bike and spend time in the woods with her pup! Ashley’s experience, knowledge, integrity and general awesomeness are a great match for the work of staff,volunteers and friends of Rozalia Project.

  • Annie Tuthill

    VISUAL ARTS AND MEDIA MANAGER

    Annie joined the team as an intern in 2016 for the organizations first Hudson River Expedition as the On Board Reporter.

  • Brooke Winslow

    HEAD SAIL WRANGLING NINJA

    Brooke had the incredible opportunity to live aboard her family sailboat, homeschool, and travel to Central and South America for two years as a middle schooler, crossing the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii and back. This experience cemented Brooke's deep love of the ocean, its physical and biological wonders. With this passion, Brooke joined Rozalia Project first as an intern in 2013, then as a deckhand in 2014, and finally as First Mate in 2015. Along with founders Rachael and James, she was part of the inventing team to create Cora Ball, the world's only laundry ball protecting the ocean. Today, Brooke continues to support Rozalia Project's research and programing on American Promise and innovate for a clean ocean.

  • Kate Neubauer

    BOARD PRESIDENT

    Board President, Newport, RI. Kate Neubauer is the founder of Intertidal Ventures, a philanthropic and sponsorship consulting firm facilitating the design of creative funding partnerships and relationships. With over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Kate has served as the Executive Director of the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center and as a Program Manager for the Schmidt Family Foundation. She currently resides in Newport, RI and is chair of the US Sailing Community Sailing Committee.

  • Mark Naud

    VICE PRESIDENT

    Vice President of the Board of Directors/Attorney/Advisor, South Hero, VT. Mark has experience both on the water, as a sailor, and on land as an active advocate for the environment, especially the marine environment. He studied environmental law and has been involved in the Waterkeeper Alliance, the Vermont Natural Resources Council, the Lake Champlain Committee, Vermont Citizens Advisory Committee on the Future of Lake Champlain, and as Executive Director of the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center.

  • Brooke Cunningham

    DIRECTOR

    Director, Waitsfield, VT. Brooke has been a travel writer specializing in sailing charters, regattas and events, fly fishing and new resort development since 1996. Publications range from inflight magazines and luxury travel glossies to specialized industry house organs.

    Affiliations: For 14 years Brooke owned and operated a small Vermont based manufacturing business. For 8 years she was the principal strategist for Hands On Web Strategies, a company which helped corporations develop an objective based online presence. For nine years she was on the board of the Yestermorrow Design Build School in Warren, Vermont.

  • Roxanne Scully

    DIRECTOR

    Director, Burlington, VT. Roxanne Scully connected with Rachael Miller and Rozalia Project through her love of water sports and her interest in improving the health of Lake Champlain. Roxanne is a community organizer and entrepreneur who has resided in the Burlington, Vermont for the past 20 years. As a former teacher, Roxanne brings her expertise and love of engaging young children to the Rozalia Project Board of Directors. Roxanne co-owns Vermont’s SUP lifestyle shop, Wnd & Wvs, with her husband Russ. Soon after they opened the doors of their shop, they began collaborating with Rachael and created an annual event to help fund and support one of Rozalia Project’s mission’s, cleaning up the beaches around Lake Champlain. Over the past 5 years, they have organized hundreds of local volunteers to collect, record and sort debris close to the shores of the lake. Roxanne believes in all that the Rozalia Project stands for and is inspired by the groups effort to improve the quality of the environment we all cherish.

  • Mike Hendrickson

    DIRECTOR

    Director, Shelburne, VT. Mike Hendrickson is the owner/operator of Burlington Harbor Launch and Tow a Marine Towing, Salvage, and Overland Transport Service located in Burlington, Vt and operating on Lake Champlain. Mike has worked in the marine service trades for more than 20 years as a sailing instructor, facilities and maintenance coordinator, and as a member of the board of directors at the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center. Mike has held his U.S Coast Guard 75 GT Masters of an Inspected Vessel rating since 2005. In his off time Mike works as an Paramedic on several Rescue squads in the local area. Mike graduated from the University of Vermont in 1999 with a bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology. Mike has a great love for the Marine Environment and believes strongly in the importance of its stewardship through community participation and education. Mike celebrates his love of the water as a freelance Maritime Painter, and gathers much of his subject matter while working on the water.

  • Rachael Miller

    CO-FOUNDER

    Rachael Zoe Miller is the Founder of Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean and it is for her grandmother that the project is named. She is an expedition scientist, inventor, National Geographic Explorer, Explorers Club Fellow and co-inventor of the Cora Ball, the world’s first microfiber-catching laundry ball. Rachael leads teams on expeditions whose scientific results are published in peer-reviewed journals and education programs that inspire thousands of people of all ages. She’s presented at venues worldwide including on the TedX stage and at The Explorer’s Club. Rachael captains the 60’ sailing research vessel, American Promise, certified hundreds of people to be sailing instructors, trained Navy SEALS to find unexploded mines using underwater robots, pitched to audiences at Our Ocean and Plastics Europe and mentors young scientists at the New York Harbor School. She lives in Vermont, loves the snow as much as the sea and does her best thinking on skis, bikes or paddleboards.
